SPECIAL WEDDING OCCASIONS
The role of Celebrants in our community is by and large to
assist in marking special events. Apart from weddings and baby namings, celebrants can
also mark Coming of Age, the Opening of Buildings, Divorce, Middle Age, Gay
Commitments and the passage to Adulthood.
These latter ceremonies are individually written in
consultation with interested parties and can be combined with symbolism and
music. There can be as many Celebrations as there are life
events.
One of the most meaningful ceremonies I have conducted was a farewell to a family home. The children on the death of
their second parent wanted a way to celebrate their life in this house where they had spent their pre-adult life. A ceremony was designed with
each family member telling a story relating to each each particular room in the the house. There were tears and lots of laughter as they said
goodbye to their home.

The picture above is of a recent wedding where the couple chose to marry with a Medieval theme. Weddings can be special
occasions in many levels including expressing yourselves in a different style as this couple did.
